February is here and there is a lot to get done before June 30. I have visited all 57 of our clubs at least once now, and some of the clubs several times. It is rewarding to see the great work being done by our clubs across eastern Missouri. If you have a special event or program coming up and would like me to attend, please send me an email to see if I can make it.
I have a few items I am focused on right now: Clubs earning their Presidential Citation. The form is due on my office well before March 31. This can be earned by all our clubs this year. It takes a little work but is not out of reach at all. Three clubs have already turned their forms in. You can find the form at www.rotary6060.org then "Club Resources". Scroll down in the yellow menu box and click on Presidential Citation. Rotary Foundation giving. We are approximately 1/2 of the way to our goal with four months to go. We need to wrap up all giving by the end of May, so that clubs can be honored and thanked properly at our District Reunion June 3-4 by Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith. District Foundation Chair Stacey Self would prefer you have all your donations in by April 30. Governor's Banquet. We have 2,500 Rotarians in District 6060. I'd like to find 30 or 40 of them who would like to have special seating at our Governor's Banquet on June 4 at our District Reunion. These will be Rotarians who become Major Donors or members of the Bequest Society or change from one level of Major Donor or Bequest Society to the next during this Rotary year. In addition to the special seating, we will have a special reception just prior to the dinner where R.I. President Ray will present your recognition crystal to you. A photographer will be on hand for this. I believe we have eight folks so far. Please join us. For more information, please email me: Rotary6060.TL@Gmail.com

Rotary Foundation Matching Gift Campaign
Rotary Foundation Matching Program
Our Matching Program ended on February 15 with all 50,000 Foundation Recognition Points being used. District Foundation Chair Stacey Self got back from her trip to India to find nearly $25,000 in donations waiting for her! That's tremendous.
If any of you would still like to take advantage of this matching offer. Email Stacey or call her today. Our sources of "matching points" are nearly gone.
Rotary District 6060 is making a special offer: We will match your personal donation from $100 to $500 to the Annual Programs Fund of Our Rotary Foundation. This can help you finish your Paul Harris Fellowship or your current multiple Paul Harris Fellowship level. You can make someone else a Paul Harris Fellow.
This offer expires on February 15, 2011. Make sure your checks arrive BEFORE February 15, 2011. We can match only the first $50,000 in donations we receive.
Rotarians need to make their personal checks payable to "Rotary Foundation" and mail them to Foundation Chairman Stacey Self.
Stacey Self Rotary District 6060 Foundation Chair P O Box 218 Dittmer MO 63023
Be sure to include:
Your name and a note asking for a match of your Annual Programs Fund donation.
Your Rotary Club name
Who are you wanting to make a Paul Harris Fellow - spell their names very carefully
A daytime phone number for the donor in case we have questions.
FYI:
Paul Harris Fellowships and pins will require 1-2 months to arrive.
You will receive a receipt from The Rotary Foundation approximately 2-3 weeks after we receive your check.
Your receipt will only be for the amount of your check, since we are providing "the match" with Rotary Foundation Recognition Points that were earned from donations already made by others.
Donations made online via "Member Access" or sent in directly to The Rotary Foundation will not be matched - only those donations submitted via the steps listed above.
A very special thank you to the Rotary Clubs and Rotarians who so generously gave us permission to use their Rotary Foundation Recognition Points in this campaign. Thank you all - you know you who are.
Remember Those Who Went Before Us
Rotary is now 106 years old. A concept that came together in the thoughts of Paul Harris and began in the harsh winter of Chicago in 1905. In 1910 Rotary came to Missouri and there were now over a dozen Rotary clubs. In 2010, Rotary had over 34,000 Rotary clubs scattered around the world. We got to where we are today by great effort from many past leaders.
On February 10, 2011, our district lost one of our past district governors. Miles F. Schwartz served district 6050 in the 1996-1997 Rotary year. Miles joined the Kirkwood Rotary club in the 1980's and was one of a few Kirkwood Rotarians who moved to the Des Peres Rotary club when it was chartered in 1990. Miles served as the second president of the Des Peres club. Please keep Miles wife Suzanne in your thoughts and prayers.
Presidential Citation
Has your club earned its Presidential Citation from R.I. Ray Klinginsmith this year? The completion forms are due back to Governor Todd well before March 31, so ask your president or a board member if your club has theirs done. The Presidential Citation is designed by the R.I. President each year to challenge clubs to stay active in a variety of areas of service. Some years it seems so difficult to earn that clubs don't evey try. That's a shame and certainly NOT the situation this year.
President Ray has made this year's Presidential Citation achievable this year. Additionally, President Ray will be with us for our District Reunion on June 4. This gives your club the opportunity to be personally recognized and thanked by President Ray for earning the award that he has designed. You'll want to be there, too!
The Presidential Citation form can be found at our district website www.rotary6060.org then "Club Resources" then scroll down the yellow menu box looking for "Presidential Citation." I've also attached a blank one to this email newsletter. (I hope)
District Reunion 2011
DISTRICT REUNION
Our District Reunion (conference) this year will be June 3-4, 2011 at the Westport Sheraton Chalet Hotel.
Our special guest will be RI President Ray Klinginsmith. Also joining us will be Rotary Peace Fellow Eduardo Costa, Rotary District 6060's "adopted" Peace Fellow.

Go to Club Resourceson the District Website, then scroll down for District Reunion (Conference) 2011.
Interact is a club for junior high and high school students, modeled after Rotary Clubs. We have 10 Interact clubs in our district that we know about. These clubs are sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Crestwood/Sunset Hills, De Soto, Dexter, Festus-Crystal City, Florissant, High Ridge, St. Louis, Sullivan, Wentzville, and Warren County.
Has your club sponsored an Interact club that we don’t know about? Please email Governor Todd if your club HAS an Interact club.
We are planning a Youth Conference at our District Reunion June 3-4, 2011 and want to invite all Rotary Youth Exchange students, former Youth Exchange students, and Interactors to take part. Additionally, former Youth Exchange students and Rotaractors will be invited to assist the Rotary leaders in running the Youth Conference.
Motorcycle To New Orleans?
Any Rotarian Motorcyclists Out There?
The International Fellowship of Motorcycling Rotarians are planning a ride to New Orleans via four routes, meeting up in Baton Rouge on May 19 and then making a grand entrance into New Orleans on May 20. The group from along the route from Chicago will be passing through our district a day or two before this and we are in the midst of organizing "stop and greets" in St. Louis near the Arch and in the Cape Girardeau/Jackson area. They are also looking for Rotarians and family members who would like to join them on the way to New Orleans. Please see our district website www.rotary6060.org , then "Club Resources" and "Motorcycle to New Orleans" for more information.
Rotary Friendship Exchange
ROTARY FRIENDSHIP EXCHANGE
District 6060 would like to participate in a Rotary Friendship Exchange during the spring/summer of 2011. This Exchange involves Rotarians and spouses from District 6060 who participate in a reciprocal visit with Rotarians from another country. Rotary Friendship Exchange is funded entirely by the program participants with no expense to Rotary International. Generally, guest are responsible for their travel expenses and personal expenses, while host Rotarians provide housing, meals and sightseeing opportunities. If you are interested in finding out more information or participating in a Rotary Friendship Exchange, then contact Bob Cope at bobjancope@yahoo.com
