The McLean Rotary Club sponsored its first annual Chocolate Festival (www.mcleanchocolatefestival.org) fundraiser on January 29, 2012. On January 25, 2015, over 2,000 people came to purchase chocolate in many forms: cookies, candies, covered pretzels, cupcakes. dipped strawberries, cheesecake, and many more. The event raised more than $13,000 to support local community service projects. Next year's event will be held on January 31, 2016 in the McLean Community Center from 11 AM to 5 PM. Admission is $2. In addition to chocolate vendors, there will be a separate game room staffed by members of the Interact Clubs of McLean and Langley High School where children can play chocolate-themed games. There will also be a demonstration of how chocolate was made in colonial America by American Heritage, a Mars company. The Committee Chair is Jan Auerbach.
