PROGRAM:

GAIL BRICKLER and MARTI GUTWEIN, co-chairs of the Major Project Committee, presented three possible projects for us to consider. The first project mentioned was the Celery Bog Outdoor Classroom to be built near Lilly Nature Center. This would be an open-sided building with restrooms and a boot wash area. The size would be 1800 sq ft. Many groups could use this facility including school groups, Purdue students, and local nature enthusiasts. The second project was the development of Rotary Plaza at Columbian Park. This would be near the Rush Pavilion. It would include landscaped areas, seating that would incorporate the medallions of the different branches of military service, and walkways made of pavers. Visitors to the park would pass through this area on the way to Memorial Island. The third project presented was the LTHC Homeless Services Engagement Center. This building will provide shelter for citizens in a crisis situation and would also be a place where social services personnel could meet with clients. The building itself will cost $10 million, but our part will be furnishing either the crisis center or the day room. A number of committee members have worked hard to gather information and to help whittle the choices down to these three. Special thanks go to CHRISTINE BURR, JIM HANKINS, JOHN SCHNEIDER, and JANE TURNER.

Members indicated their preferred project on ballots that were turned in. Members who were not in attendance can let GAIL BRICKLER know via email (gail.brickler@oldnational.com) which project interests them most. Please send your email before Friday at 5:00 pm. The result of this poll will be shared at the lunch meeting on June 13th.
