PROGRAM:

Vickie Maris, introduced by BRYAN METZGER, began by relating a story about the cockpit conversation with the co-pilot of her Delta flight. Vickie Maris He was a Purdue graduate in the program her father initiated. She gave us several statistics regarding WWII usage of resources and casualties. She said that generation of citizens had to become leaders overnight.

Vickie has archived her parents’ photos and letters from the war years and shared with us stories and photos of the family, flight situations, ponies and cocker spaniels. Like everyone of that generation, they remember the news that Pearl Harbor had been bombed as if it were yesterday. She shared her dad’s scrapbook where he drew cartoon characters and wrote balloon bubbles expressing his thoughts.

She had a photo of a B-13 trainer, stories of the beloved B-17, and the B-24 and crew that made it home safely on a whisper and a prayer.

Vicki has a podcast, on-line course, available for anyone to wishing to hear more.

ROTARY WOMEN BUILD TEAM:
This year our Club is sponsoring a team for the Habitat for Humanity Women Build project.  We will be doing painting on July 12th.  So far we have 5 team members:  JO WADE, JANE TURNER, MARTI GUTWEIN, KATIE NIELSEN and RENEE FIGUEROA.  We need 7 more team members. Participants will work one day (8 hours) and raise $100 each. If you would like to help the team, but do not wish to build, we are seeking Supporters who will provide food on the build day and also raise $100. Men, your contributions are needed as well. Look for a pink sign up form and return it to Renee.
