BLOOD DRIVE:

Did you know that fewer than 2% of Hoosiers donate blood annually?  We hope you will be part of that important 2% at the blood drive to take place on Tuesday, March 28th in the parking lot of the FourPoints hotel.  Donations will help people in Indiana or other nearby states.  If you donate blood, you are helping to save three lives!  This will take just 45 minutes of your time.  To sign up, go to
donorpoint.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/113134.
Let KATIE NIELSEN know if you have questions.

PROGRAM:
Craig Hadley, Executive Director of Tippecanoe County Historical Society, spoke to us about exciting plans for the future of the organization.Craig HadleyPhase One of the long-range plan is taking place now with the purchase and remodeling of the former Masonic Lodge at 6th and Columbia. This building will provide a central location for storage of TCHA’s substantial collections that are now stored in four different locations. The new building will also have a banquet room, a commercial kitchen, an auditorium and a gift shop. The intent is that there will be educational programming as well as events for the community such as lectures, classic films and galas in the new facility. On April 1st a Great Gatsby Gala will be held at Fowler House to highlight life in Lafayette during the 1920’s and to benefit TCHA. Phase Two will involve upgrading the Tippecanoe Battlefield Museum. The Battlefield itself is a local treasure because it has been preserved intact since the time of the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. Phase Three, to happen in 2022, will focus on an interpretive center at the original site of Fort Ouiatenon. This year, 2017, marks the 300th anniversary of Fort Ouiatenon. Phase Four, scheduled for 2027, will be a new Tippecanoe County History Museum large enough to display the collections owned by TCHA. This will be a wonderful institution preserving our important local history.
