PROGRAM:

Cindy Metzger, wife of BRYAN METZGER, spoke to us about her experiences with helping to manage care for her mother who has Alzheimer’s disease. Cindy Metzger She explained some of the difficulties they have had through the years with arranging proper placement in care facilities and practical things such as how to take the car away from her mother. Cindy teaches a class about Aging Well and Alzheimer’s at Faith Church. The class is free and is held at Faith East from 6:30 to 8:00 pm from March 8th through April 5th. A good resource can be found at the website: www.alz.org. Look for the video: Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters. A quick survey of all those attending the meeting showed that almost all of us are impacted by this disease.

ROTARY WOMEN BUILD TEAM:
This year our Club is sponsoring a team for the Habitat for Humanity Women Build project.  We  will be doing painting on July 12th. Our team will be one of many helping to build the same house on Powderhouse Lane off Wabash Ave. Participants will work one day (8 hours) and raise $100 each.  If you would like to help the team, but do not wish to build, we are seeking Supporters who will provide food on the build day and also raise $100. Men, your contributions are needed as well. Look for a pink sign up form and return it to Renee. Our Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation has contributed $1200 toward this project.  Your Birthday Table dollars at work!!

TEDxPurdueU: unscripTED:
This event takes place March 25th from 1-5pm in Loeb Theater, Purdue University. Listen to short talks from 12 different speakers including Jennifer Jones, Vice President of Rotary International who will speak about: Eradication of Polio – the End is Coming!  Thanks to our own MARTI GUTWEIN for helping to organize this important Purdue Convocations event.

UPDATE ABOUT LITTLE LIBRARIES:
A note from West Lafayette Library director Nick Schenkel: I know from regularly checking the little free libraries that books shared through the little free libraries by neighborhood donations exceed the number of books donated by the Library. The little free libraries in particular are quite busy in the warmer months.  Many thanks for all of your support.
