PROGRAM:

Lt. Col. Brenda Phillips Lt. Col. Brenda Phillips presented a program about the Civil Air Patrol, which is an all-volunteer organization started in 1941. The CAP provides emergency services, aerospace education, and cadet training. There are 25 squadrons in Indiana, including one here in Lafayette. There are squadrons all over the U S. and in Puerto Rico. They perform search and rescue operations and disaster relief as well as counter-drug efforts. The CAP has their own resources, such as aircraft and gliders that they are able to deploy to help the military and law enforcement. Cameron Rasmus and Austin Buss The cadet program trains young men and women ages 12 through 20. Two cadets were present and spoke of their personal experiences, Cameron Rasmus and Austin Buss. Both have received valuable leadership training and both are interested in military careers. The CAP are “citizens serving communities above and beyond.”
