PROGRAM:

Katey Givan spoke and related her experiences during her RYE year in South Korea. She lived in a city of 500,000 people near Seoul. Katey Givan She lived with three different host families and enjoyed staying with each one. One of her host mothers was a flute player and since Katey also plays the flute, they enjoyed making music together. She attended a coed private high school for the first half of the day. The schools in South Korea are of very high quality and the students quite advanced. In the afternoons she attended cultural classes with other exchange students. With a lot of hard work, Katey was able to learn to speak Korean. One extra-curricular activity she participated in was soccer, with the boys’ team! She was able to travel and visit all of the Korean provinces as well as the country of Japan. She attended the Rotary International Convention and met with President JOEL RASMUS. . Katey left South Korea with the hope of some day seeing her Korean friends again. She will attend the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
