PROGRAM:
      Insight and Reflections
JANE TURNER shared with us some thoughts regarding her tenure as Club Secretary from July 2002 until now.  She took over from HARLEY GRIFFITH who had served for many years.  JANE thanked many who helped her through the years:  JO WADE, DAVE LANDGREBE, BILL FULLER, CHRISTA KECK, JIM KLUSMAN and BETTY NELSON, to name just a few.  JANE considers the Lafayette Rotary Club to be her “cherished family” and expressed how much she enjoyed serving.

She also ceremoniously retired the well-worn briefcase handed down to her many years ago!

To JANE’S surprise, the remainder of the program was a tribute to her.  CHRISTA KECK spoke eloquently about JANE’S many talents: hostessing the Christmas Open House, making toffee hearts to sell, preparing dinners, and always pitching in to help where needed.  BETTY NELSON also lauded JANE by reading “love notes on your retirement” with words from a number of Rotarians.  JANE has been all of the following: coach, cheerleader, historian, mother hen and scout leader.

BRIAN BITTNER expressed appreciation for JANE’S service from the Rotary Club Foundation and presented her with a gift of a small waterfall to represent that she has been a “rock” and a “calming effect” for the Club and the Foundation.

JIM KLUSMAN  concluded with additional thanks to JANE and gift cards from the Club.

She received a well-deserved standing ovation from all the members.

Well done, JANE.  We thank you and will miss your service as executive secretary.
