During our Rotary Spotlight meeting, President JIM took a couple of minutes to thank DAVE SATTLER and BOB GRIFFITHS for donations of printing and entertainment for the Centennial Celebration. He also expressed appreciation for the logo for the celebration created by graphic designer Nancy Rasmus, wife of JOEL. At the Annual Membership Meeting last December, JIM was attending an out of town funeral, but promised to provide an update on the club at a later time. Today was the day. He reviewed the Strategic Goals: • Attract and Retain Members, emphasizing younger members (currently 148 members). • Balance the club’s efforts to further the objective of Rotary • Increase involvement of all club members
In terms of our finances, we have a new treasurer and bookkeeping services: • A contract with the KLEMME firm using Quickbooks online • This provides continuity and independent oversight • The costs is $2,700 per year which includes tax return
JIM presented the clubs finances with a Balance Sheet ($86,072 in assets/no liabilities), Income Statement and Financial Trend. Club policy states that a reserve of $50,000 shall be maintained.
We have a new Governance Initiative. The Board is to appoint the Immediate Past President to be Chair of the Board. The President still has ultimate authority and responsibility. The intention is to make being president possible for those who are still working.
Finally JIM shared some of the changes proposed by the Council on Legislation. Dues will increase. Flexibility in meetings (maybe 2/month as determined by the club). Flexibility in attendance (determined by the club).
JOEL RASMUS is currently at the Rotary International Convention in Seoul, South Korea. We watched a short video of some of the proceedings. |
