PROGRAM:

MARK DAVIS introduced his friend, Jim Mills, COO, The Wabash Center. James Mills The Mission of the Center is to optimize the quality of life for people with disabilities and special needs. Simply put that is allowing people to be involved in the exchange of life. Founded in 1953 by parents of children with challenges not being met, the Wabash Center, now housed on Greenbush Street, offers a variety of programs. Some of these include developmental activities in day programs; supported living in homes; assistance with shopping, eating out or attending an event. Greenbush Industries provides light assembly and janitorial services work. There is also an Employment Service to connect employers with employees. They also work with the city in Shelter Plus Care to prevent homelessness, music therapy, therapeutic gardening, after school care and transportation. Their major fund raising activity is Wines on the Wabash, which is this Friday. A new venture will be announced soon. Grant’s House will help young people just out of high school and looking for new opportunities to learn. For more information, go to wabashcenter.com
