MARTI GUTWEIN introduced Chris Soverns, Dir. TEDxPurdueU. TED is a non-profit organization formed in 1984 that presents ideas worth spreading. The topics are numerous and the ten to fifteen minute talks are in more than 100 languages. TEDx equals independently organized events. There were over 3,000 TEDx events around our globe last year. Chris showed a video that explains TEDx events and how they work. At Purdue there have been yearly events since 2012. It is held in April with Salon Events throughout the year to cover specific topics. He showed another video to highight the theme this year: Tear Up the Box.
