PROGRAM:

SALLY SIEGRIST introduced Tippecanoe County Commissioner Tom Murtaugh, who gave us a quick update on county government activities. Tom Murtaugh He began by saying what a privilege it is to work with wonderful elected officials and city officials.  Then he reviewed:  road projects, asking us to reach out to legislators to increase the gas tax; economic development, which is the envy of the state, asking us to express opinions concerning long term development plans for the Hoosier Heartland; sentencing reform, where the state has shifted all felons to be housed locally; Amtrak, celebrating the take over by Iowa Pacific of service on August 1st; and fairgrounds sports, which is a huge success.   He answered several questions and reminded us to attend the Wabash River Enhancement Corp. meeting at the Library tonight.
