PROGRAM:

MARIELLEN NEUDECK introduced Stephanie Long, President of NCHS and Riverbend Hospital. Stephanie Long This Monticello resident reminded us that NCHS was created in 1984 from the sale of Home Hospital. They operate Riverbend Hospital in response to a community health need. It is a 16 bed facility – which qualifies it for Medicaid patients. Stephanie explained that there is a critical shortage of psychiatrists in Indiana. Medical students seem to be selecting other specialties.

The more familiar aspect of NCHS is their grants. More than $50 Million has gone into the not for profits in this community to date. These funds are for capitol grants. She reviewed the recent grant recipients and the eligibility guidelines.

Answers to several good questions related to recruiting psychiatrists and occupancy rates at the hospital concluded the presentation.

STUDENT GUESTS:
LIZ SOLBERG introduced Catharine Voorhess and Jeremy Dewell from Harrison High School.  Each received a certificate with the Four-Way Test to commemorate meeting with us today.
