PROGRAM:

RYAN MC LAUGHLIN introduced Libby Marks-Shepard, Director, Therapeion Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc., PATH International and CHA certified riding instructor. Libby Marks-Shepard Libby began by telling us she is a pharmacist who was “called” to be involved in therapeutic riding of horses. She started at CHAPPS and when it closed started her own center, focusing on at risk youth in the child protective service program. In 2007 she bought a farm near Brookston and the center has grown substantially since. It is an all volunteer organization that helps people with physical and emotional disabilities from age 3 onward. The most recent addition of a program is for Wounded Warriors. There is room for growth in all of their programs. Libby shared a video showing riders and horses and told several stories of how the horses had changed people’s lives. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. If you are interested in knowing more, visit the web site at: www.therapeiontrc.com.
