JO WADE thanked all members who attended, supported, served on a committee, chaired a committee, service on the board and held an office. She also thanked those who served on the Club Foundation Board.
JIM KLUSMAN presented JO with a past president’s pin and the gavel plaque. He also reminded us of the Mission of Rotary and the memory aid he gave us a year ago (this is a quiz!). A for acquaintance; E for high ethical standards; I for international; O for occupation; and S for service. JIM also had a wonderful story about a Rotarian in Columbus, OH who had a son stranded on I-65 during a winter storm. The father called JIM, who was able to reassure his father that he was in touch with the son who was, indeed, OK. The father said that he and his wife slept that night knowing that there was a Rotarian willing to help if needed. It perfectly illustrates the “norms of trust” that comes with being a Rotarian. After introducing the new board members and officers, as well as the coordinators of each avenue of service, JIM read the oath of office provided by Rotary International and promised to keep it.
