PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT ELECT JIM KLUSMAN introduced Dr. AWADH DUBEY, whose topic was Cataract Surgeries in India and Nepal. Dr. Awadh Dubey Since a meeting with Dick Collings, who was leading a GSE Team in India 25 years ago, District 6560 and AWADH DUBEY have had a shared vision of restoring light to the lives of blind people in India and Nepal. A series of grants have maintained the clinic’s ability to perform 5,000 surgeries and to examine 55,000 patients. We saw photos of thankful people who can see again. We also saw that this is a family business as Dr. DUBEY’S eldest son is also an eye surgeon. There is more to be done, as poverty robs people of ambition, hope and the ability to visit doctors. His goal is to continue to reach the unreached.

Gifts were given to JO WADE, SANGITA HANDA and BILL HATFIELD. JIM KLUSMAN presented our banner to Dr. DUBEY and thanked GORDON COPPOC for recording today’s meeting so it can be shared with those who were not able to be present.
