PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT ELECT JIM KLUSMAN conducted today’s Club Assembly and began by reminding us that the RI theme for April is the Rotarian Magazine month. He continued by sharing information he obtained at PETS (President Elect Training Session). RI has been working on branding the organization for a few years and now has adopted a new logo. Our pins will remain the same, but the printed logo has been updated.

There was talk at PETS about service.Jim Klusman Officers were asked if their club spends more effort on service or on weekly meetings. The fastest growing clubs ensure that there is a balance between the two.

Under club business, JIM informed members that there is a new policy that will be implemented regarding speakers. Each member will take a turn. There is a long list of suggestion for speakers and a checklist will be available. The same approach will be used for money takers. Each member will take a turn or find a replacement.

He also described District Grants and the opportunities for matching funds. The Board is considering a policy for grants that includes a check list.

One of the clubs international projects is a Community Scale Water Treatment project in the Dominican Republic.Jack KellyTo be eligible for matching funds the project must be at least $30,000 and be sustainable. He introduced JACK KELLEY to explain more about the project and the process. JACK introduced Professor Chip Blatchley who is working with students to engineer water treatment systems for communities in the Dominican Republic. He answered several good questions regarding the project. Fund raising for this project continues. We have about half of the required amount to apply for matching funds.
