PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT JO WADE introduced Purdue’s head football coach, Darrell Hazell, who commented on the cooler summer weather making practices easier. FB Coach Darrell Hazell Add to that a great team, one that is fun to be around and where players will work hard for the player next to them. A quarterback with plenty of talent has been identified. The first game, against Western Michigan, is this Saturday. With the threat of thunderstorms, he has ordered extra food for the locker room. There are 7 seniors, making it a young team in the business of winning. He feels playing elite teams is helpful. Coach Hazell addressed questions about rule changes, compensation for players, the recruiting process, and academic status of the team.

PRESIDENT JO introduced Purdue head volleyball coach, Dave Schondell, who is in his 12th season at Purdue. VB Coach Dave Schondell His team is ranked 8th nationally (Penn State is #1), providing many good teams to compete against. He feels this is the most athletic team ever, even with the loss of 5 seniors. Half of the team is made up of freshman players. He reviewed the players and encouraged us to attend any or all of the three games this weekend – two on Friday and one Saturday evening. The facilities are superior with 2,500 seats that are often sold out. Coach Schondell answered several good questions before the meeting was adjourned.
