PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT JO led us in our Club Assembly today.  The focus was on participation and finding the right place for members to use their talents.  JOEL RASMUS asked for monthly coordinators for Greeters.  ARVID OLSON encouraged anyone with ability on any musical instrument to contact him.  BECKY ROBLEDO and JAN BLAU are co-chairing the Money Collectors committee.  If you are asked to collect money, say yes.  JIM KLUSMAN asked for quarterly coordinators to be responsible for programs for three months.  LETA KELLEY is looking for helpers on the Family of Rotary Committee.  It is our supplier of fun for the club.  CAROLINE BRIGGS encouraged members to join a dedicated group for Pub Club.  They are talking about a project that they can put together.  CAROL GALBRAITH asked us to help find active members.

BECKY ROBLEDO reminded us that we are starting our 7th year packing and distributing 80 backpacks at Miami School.  NANCY BRANDT, CATHY BARRON and LETA KELLEY are team leaders for the first, second and third quarters respectively.  CHRIS JOHANNSEN is in charge of delivering the food to the school.  DICK RAHDERT is the Distribution leader.  Background checks are needed.  Fill out a form and give it to BECKY so she can enter you in the computer.

DON GENTRY, chair of the Local Projects Committee, explained that the committee selects projects and then recommends allocations to the projects once we have raised the funds.  Members can support the projects in three ways: Contribute to the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation Endowment, the Lafayette Rotary Foundation Projects Fund and/or the fund-raiser.  For 2015/16 the committee has decided to support Children, Youth and Young Adults.  Read to Succeed (need 40 –50 members to volunteer), Scholarship/Citizenship Scholarships for High School Seniors and Backpack supports children. Camperships and RYLA supports youth.  Community College Scholarships support young adults.  Purdue Chapter of Habitat for Humanity Bucket 100 ride, Food Finders capital campaign and PALS received endorsement but no funds.
This means that members may contribute individually to these projects if they wish to support them.

CHRISTINE BURR is working on improving our communications with “non” or prospective members.   She would welcome your ideas.

JACK KELLEY announced that International Projects are on hold until the club shows some commitment to the idea.
