PROGRAM:

MIKE PIGGOTT introduced Suresh Garimella, Executive Vice President for Research and Partnerships at Purdue, whose topic was Global Purdue. Suresh GarimellaPurdue is very well represented within the State. Research Park is one of the best technology parks in the U.S. Purdue intends to expand it’s expertise to include the rest of the world. Strategic goals include: Enhanced international exposure for students; Diversify student body; Inform global policy matters; Encourage more alumni and corporate partnerships; Utilize significant differences; and Advance Indiana’s economic and cultural environment. They will attract the best faculty and students anywhere; partner with top institutes; develop new approaches; and promote their international brand. Purdue has a long history of engaging over seas. There are many partnerships in Latin America and Africa. The keys to success are a passionate faculty and staff, parity in relationships, shared leadership, balance of different aspects of programs, and a sustainable financial model. While answering several good questions, we learned that our efforts to integrate students in our life are important. Welcome international students. On line courses are available internationally. There will be no international campuses. An anchor in other countries may be alumni, corporate partners or governmental offices as a way to connect on projects.
