PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT CHRIS introduced fellow Rotarian and PRESIDENT ELECT, JO WADE, whose topic was Visit Lafayette – West Lafayette.Jo Wade She encouraged everyone to look at the Visitor Guide, which were placed at each seat. This publication was produced jointly with Purdue for the first time. The Downtown Brochure markets 91 blocks as one attraction, divided into three sections. JO pointed out that Visit Lafayette – West Lafayette has a board of directors appointed by elected officials. GREG DONAT and DAVE SATTLER, long-time board members, were present today. Technology is important and is used as a promotional tool, but she shared research that she uses regarding sources that impact final decisions during the planning of a trip. 57% Internet; 48% Word of Mouth; 32% Printed brochures; 25% Maps or guides; 15% Mobile apps; 8% Billboards, signage and advertising. This area receives about 2 million visitors per year, which generates $300 million in the community. She answered several good questions and left us with her optimism for the future of tourism in Lafayette and West Lafayette.
