PROGRAM:

MARIELLEN NEUDECK introduced Ally Gatmaitan (daughter of Rotarian AL GATMAITAN) and Madeline Blackwell, who are Indy 500 Festival Princesses this year. Ally is a Junior in Nursing at Purdue and Madeline is studying Bio Chesestry and Pre-Med at Indiana University. The 500 Princess Program is an outreach tool for the Festival. The 33 princesses go through 2 interviews where leadership, volunteer activities and high grades are important. The young women have opportunities to become comfortable with public speaking, and to take advantage of growth possibities. They talked about the history of the Indianapolis 500 race and festival, noting that the parade is one of the three parades broadcast on national TV. They are excited about representing the event and taking part in all of the activities. Visiting schools is one of the many interesting engagements.
