VOCATIONAL MOMENT:

CHRISTA KECK was born in Germany and given the name Christiane by her parents.  During WWII her father, a well-known physicist, was brought to the U.S.  The family followed some time later, settling on the East coast, where Christa spent her childhood and became a U.S. citizen.  She has degrees from the College of New Rochelle, Columbia University and The University of Texas at Austin.  The Department of Modern Lauguages and Literatures at Purdue is where she taught and did research until she took early retirement to devote time to the community and philanthropic projects.
CHRISTA initiated the Purdue Center for International Business Education and Research and the journal, Global Business Languages, which continues today.  For her work in Business German, she was presented the Federal Cross of Merit by the President of Germany.  This is Germany’s highest honor.
Her activities now include serving on several local boards of directors and volunteering for many organizations.  She enjoys attending concerts and theater, travelling, boating, reading and spending time with her husband (DAVE FILMER), family and friends.
