PROGRAM:

LIZ SOLBERG introduced John Dennis, Mayor of West Lafayette. John began by saying that there were lots of changes taking place in West Lafayette right now and acknowledged the work by former mayor SONYA MARGERUM to make these changes possible. John DennisSince the work of the City impacts citizens at many levels, he has decided to use social media to try to answer some of the frequently asked questions. Interviews with department heads where he asks” why the job is done this way”, or “how do you do it?” were taped and have beem posted to You Tube. He showed us one done with the Street Commissioner, Dave Downey, regarding snow removal. Another interview with Utility Director Dave Henderson answered questions about the business of sewage treatment. We all loved the sense of humor Mayor Dennis brings to these very important but not so glamourous tasks. The mayor applaudes the city employees whose dedication can not be replaced. For more, go to Fun with the Mayor on You Tube.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
"A government for the people must depend for its success on the intelligence, the morality, the justice, and the interest of the people themselves.' – Grover Cleveland, 22nd and 24th President of the United States. As such, he is the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms (1885–1889 and 1893–1897) and to be counted twice in the numbering of the presidents.
