PROGRAM:

President CHRIS introduced Dick Rhoad, CEO of Wabash Center since July 2013. Dick RhoadThe mission of Wabash Center is to optimize the quality of life of those with disabilities and special needs. The people served include but are not limited to those having an IQ of less than 60, autism and Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and/or are medically fragile. There are 24 residential homes in the community housing 72 people who receive around the clock care. Forty-three people in their own homes receive some level of assistance. Greenbush Industries is a workshop that employs 223 adults with disabilities. They also run an employment service to help clients maintain a meaningful life style and develop job skills.

The supportive programs include an after school program, senior daycare, transportation, music therapy, respite care, theraputic gardening and guardianship. They have working relationships with other organizations in the community: LARA, GLASS, TAC, TUC, MOW and City Shelter Plus Care. Funding comes from many sources including Medicaid and United Way. Working collaboratively with others and being a good steward of funds makes them a successful community resource. We can help by sending those with needs, providing businesess opportunities and fund raising. Volunteers are welcome, but must go through extensive back ground tests and training.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Also a second thought because of the current weather: "Cut your own wood and it will warm you twice." Abraham Lincoln

JANE'S CORNER:
The February 25th meeting:  There will be a vote on amended Club Bylaws, followed by a session on Our Club's Future, presented by JIM KLUSLMAN.  The proposed amendments to the Bylaws are in response to recent changes to the Standard Rotary Club Constitution and the Recommended Rotary Club Bylaws.  The amendments have been discussed and approved by the Board of Directors.  It is recommended that members NOT bring GUESTS for this program.

The only way to obtain these boxes full of hearts is to order them through Rotary.Candy Box They are not available any other place.  Daybreak and our club sell them as a fund raiser.  Order forms are available on the back table.  Each box is $15, with $5 going to the club’s project fund.  The deadline for orders is February 4th, but early orders would be appreciated
