PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT CHRIS introduced Christine Isbell, Executive Director of Public Schools Foundation of Tippecanoe County. Christine Isbell She began with a video which explained the Public Schools Foundation, the grants they make and the impact they have on students. The idea for a foundation began about 30 years ago when the local school superintendents identified it as a need. In 1985 it was created to provide resources to teachers for enhansing curricullum. Fund raising efforts have built the corpus so that $565,000 have been given out. Last year $31,000 were awarded to teachers. The grants are given twice a year. They are governed by a volunteer board which includes all three superintendents. To get the word out, they have created the video and are employing social media to add to their tool box in their effort to raise support for the foundation.
