PROGRAM:

CHRIS JOHANNSEN introduced SUSAN MESKIS, a Rotarian in the Fishers Club, Trina Wright and Susan Meskis whose topic was -- the District Vocational Team's visit to Tanzania. She brought fellow traveler, Trina Wright, with her to talk about the preparation for the trip and what happened when they arrived. The mission was to teach nurses how to better care for patients from April 11 – May 7, 2013. Working in the Aga Kahn University and Hospital in Tanzania, where they presented a seminar on advanced nursing. Trina, who teaches nursing at Purdue, focused on Cirriculum development (noting the poor resources the nurses have to work with in caring for patients) and teaching strategies, where there is a huge difference between private and public hospitals. They took part in local Rotary projects and had the opportunity to sample the local culture while on a side trip to the island of Zanzibar.
