ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ All credit card purchases made at the Harvest Dinner have been cleared by University Book Store. Auction items that you purchased using a credit card were very kindly handled by TOM FREY and his staff.

♦ DON GENTRY announced the five projects for 2013-2014: Backpack at Miami School, High School Scholarships, Two Year College Scholarships, RYLA and PALS. Members wishing to support these projects may make checks payable to the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation and indicate projects or a specific project in the memo line.

♦ PRESIDENT TERRY announced that next week's Pub Club meeting will be at Pablanos, 360 Brown Street on the Levee.

♦ Jewelry made by ELSA JANLE will be available at a few meeting between now and December 18th. Get started on your Christmas shopping now! This is a great way to make someone happy and to support our club's local projects.

♦ RENEE ROAMES gave us information about our Rotary Youth Exchange student, Giovana Zampoli, from Brazil. It would build good will and better friendships if members of our club would include her in one of your family activities. She would enjoy attending a sporting event or a music concert. Please contact her host mom at 838-5353 or jenileaird@gmail.com.

♦ It is time to sign up for ringing the bell for Salvation Army. Saturday, December 15th will be a mild sunny day, so spend two hours getting to know a fellow Rotarian better by partnering to ring the bell. This annual friendly competition with Kiwanis to see who can raise more money helps to keep the Holidays happy for many in our community. If you only have one hour, contact JIM KLUSMAN. Otherwise you can sign up by calling or e-mailing FLOYD GARROTT.

♦ The next Euchre party will be December 1st at the home of SANGITA HANDA. Please let her know if you can play that night.

♦ Mark your calendars! Holiday Open House beginning at 5:00, Thursday, December 20th. JANE TURNER'S house.

THANK YOU:
Dear Rotary Club Members,

Rex and I would like to thank you for the award you recently made to us for our work in helping to feed the hungry in our community. We feel what we do is only a small portion of the work that is done by many hands in this generous community. Our number of clients has been increasing as we head into w inter and the holidays. We shared the monetary gift with our "team" by taking them to lunch on the following Friday after we finished our weekly distribution of baked goods. If not for their devoted help each week, we would not be able to continue this distribution. Again, we thank you for the recognition, the plaque and for the monetary gift.
Rex and Reta Bowman
