JOHN BARRETT asked PATTI TRUITT to draw a ticket. The owner of the ticket was GREG KAPP. Unfortunately, the remaining Aces eluded him and he selected Arbi's Gift Cards.

PROGRAM:

In honor of Veterans Day, BETTY NELSON introduced Pam Mow, Indiana President of Gold Star Mothers and Ted Luce, Photographer and Assistant for Honor Flights, whose topic was Gold Star Mothers/Honor Flights. While attending an annual convention of Indiana Gold Star Mothers, Pam picked up ideas for service by the local club. In October of 2011 her local club became the regional hub for Honor Flights. This year 240 World War II and Korean War veterans were flown to Washington, D.C. to spend a day seeing the memorials and Arlington National Cemetery. Ted Luce talked about being overcome with emotion when school children see the veterans and want to shake their hands and celebrate their birthdays. The cost is about $500 per vet, which is paid for through fund raising events. Guardians fill out an application and pay $400, which helps defray costs. They played a video of the first honor flight with local veterans, showing the happy faces and the places they visited.
