    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ DICK RAHDERT reminded members to select businesses to contact for silent auction items and check with JANE SMITH before you make the call. We don't want businesses to be asked by several members.

♦ GENE HILLS needs five more volunteers for the Distribution of Backpacks on Friday afternoons between 2:15 and 3:00.

♦ DON GENTRY, chair of the Local Projects Committee for 2012/13, reviewed the projects that are being funded this year and reminded the club that these projects are being paid for out of the Club's reserves. He asked members to use the sheets provided on each table to prioritize existing projects and to suggest other projects.

♦ BARB REIF announced that nomination forms are on each table for the Service Above Self Community Award for contributions to the alleviation of hunger. Nominees to be considered are those in the volunteer sector who have made an outstanding contribution to the alleviation of hunger in the Greater Lafayette Community. The deadline is October 1st. The award will be announced at the Harvest Dinner, October 25th.

♦ Satellite Meeting - Rotarians and friends who met last week at Poblano's had a great time - good food, good conversation and $2 margaritas...what's not to like? Well, margaritas, maybe, but Poblano's has lots of soft drink options and a full bar. We are continuing the fiesta, meeting at Poblanos Mexican Bar and Grill, 360 Brown Street, WL, at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, September 5. This is in the same strip as BW3 and Neon Cactus, at the end closest to the river. Our main purpose tomorrow evening is social, but feel free to bring discussion topics. Maybe we should talk about priorities for club projects in 2012-13.

    JANE'S CORNER:

Members who want to register for District meetings and the Conference can do so on-line, but only if your e-mail address has been entered into the District and Club Database (DaCdb). Our club has a policy that allows me only to enter members mailing address so that The Rotarian Magazine can come to you each month. If you would like for me to enter your e-mail address into DaCdb, you need to sign a "permission sheet". I will be happy to comply with your wishes. The permission sheets are available at the back table.
