    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ CAROL GALBRAITH thanked members for volunteering for membership committees. There is still a need to populate the Rotaract and Recruitment committees. Please make yourself known to CAROL if you can help.

♦ TIM LUZADER gave an update on the Harvest Dinner and District Conference plans. JAYNE FEATHERS has agreed to organize the home hosting and is looking for members who would be willing to open a spare bedroom to Rotarians from other parts of the District for the weekend. JO WADE is coordinating four tours on Friday morning. Benton County Wind Farm; Samara; Wines of Indiana; and Inspired Fire are the four offerings. If you can help JO, please contact her.

♦ BECKY ROBLEDO reminded us to watch for the sign up sheets for Backpack packing and distribution. There are sheets on the back table for those new volunteers who need a security clearance.

♦ PHIL TUCKER says more volunteers are needed in the Read to Succeed program. Contact him for more details.

♦ WES MCDIVITT asked members to make donations to the silent auction and to bring baskets and pretty containers (even containers with a more masculine appeal) to the next meeting.

♦ BARB REIF announced that nomination forms are on each table for the Service Above Self Community Award for contributions to the alleviation of hunger. Nominees to be considered are those in the volunteer sector who have made an outstanding contribution to the alleviation of hunger in the Greater Lafayette Community. The deadline is October 1st. The award will be announced at the Harvest Dinner, October 25th.

♦ JOEL RASMUS announced that a new member orientation will be held at 11:00

♦ Satellite Meeting: The Lafayette Rotary Pub Club will meet at Poblano's Mexican Bar and Grill, 360 Brown Street, WL, at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, August 29. This is in the same strip as BW3 and Neon Cactus, at the end closest to the river. The primary objective tomorrow evening is social, but feel free to bring discussion topics.

    JANE'S CORNER:

Members who want to register for District meetings and the Conference can do so on-line, but only if your e-mail address has been entered into the District and Club Database (DaCdb). Our club has a policy that allows me only to enter members mailing address so that The Rotarian Magazine can come to you each month. If you would like for me to enter your e-mail address into DaCdb, you need to sign a "permission sheet". I will be happy to comply with your wishes. The permission sheets are available at the back table.
