ANNOUNCEMENTS: |
♦ ASSISTANT DISTRICT GOVERNOR STEVE CURRENS announced that the District Governor's visit is scheduled for August 28th. He will meet with the Board of Directors and Committee Chairs at 10:30 that day and be our speaker for the luncheon meeting. |
♦ BETTY NELSON writes: Many will remember Jim Hobbs, a long-time member of this Rotary Club, who died September 1, 2011. For several years Jim was the one who asked Rotarians to take responsibility for the invocations each month; all of the organization for the 2011-12 invocations had been put in place by Jim before his death. This August, friends and colleagues of Jim Hobbs will be giving the invocations to recognize and remember one who loved this club and represented the best characteristics of Rotarians. The order for the month's meeting is: Jim Hanks, Phil Klinger, Betty Suddarth, and Mariellen Neudeck. Thanks to Jim and to all of his friends! |
♦ Please join the Lafayette Rotary Club for the Rotary Harvest Dinner and Reception
benefiting our local youth projects on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 5:30p in the
Shively Pavillion at Ross Ade Football Stadium (3rd floor of the Press Box). Our
guest speaker is Dr. Jess Lowenberg Deboer, Associate Dean of International
Programs in Agriculture at Purdue University. His topic will be Agricultural
Extension Activities in Afghanistan. There will be music, awards, fabulous auction
items, fellowship, and lots of fun. The cost is $50/person. Reservations will be
limited. Reservation forms and more information will be available on our web site
and during the weekly Rotary meetings. Alternatively, you can reserve your seats by
mailing payment to:
|
♦ Satellite Meetings: Wednesdays; 5:30 p.m.; Uncorked on Main Street. Join an interesting mix of fellow Rotarians. |
♦ JANE SMITH distributed a list of suggestion businesses to ask for items to be used in the Harvest Dinner Auction. Please let her know if you plan to ask one of the businesses so that the owner or manager is not approached by more than one member. Minimum amount is $50. |
♦ Registration for the October 26 & 27 District Conference may be done on line. The $109 registration fee has been extended until August 15th, when it will increase to $129. Since we are the host club and no one needs to pay for hotel rooms, this is a great opportunity for a large percentage of our club to greet and welcome fellow Rotarians from the other 44 clubs in the District. Register now. Save money. Click here for form. |
♦ PRESIDENT TERRY distributed a Rotary Score Card listing many of the activities in which Rotarians can participate. This card is small enough to carry in a wallet, so through the coming year you will be able to keep track of your participation in Rotary. |
