AUGUST PROGRAMS: |
ANNOUNCEMENTS: |
♦ Satellite Meetings: Wednesdays; 5:30 p.m.; Uncorked on Main Street. Join an interesting mix of fellow Rotarians. |
♦ JANE SMITH distributed a list of suggested businesses to ask for items to be used in the Harvest Dinner Auction. Please let her know if you plan to ask one of the businesses so that the owner or manager is not asked by two or three members. Minimum amount is $50. |
♦ PRESIDENT TERRY explained that the projects that are being funded this year are camperships, PALS, RYLA, Rotary Youth Exchange, High School Scholarships, Two Year College Scholarships and the Backpack project. The total needed to fund these projects is $46,000.00, resulting in a deficit budget for this year. Anyone wishing to contribute to these projects can write a check to the Lafayette Rotary Club Foundation and put "Projects Fund" on the memo line. |
♦ Registration for the October 26 & 27 District Conference may be done on line. The cost is $109 until August 1st, when it will increase to $129. Since we are the host club and no one needs to pay for hotel rooms, this is a great opportunity for a large percentage of our club to greet and welcome fellow Rotarians from the other 44 clubs in the District. Register now. Save money. |
♦ The Club Board of Directors decided that a payment from the treasury to Polio Plus would not be made. Instead, members may designate Polio Plus when making an Every Rotarian Every Year contribution and receive a tax deduction. |
♦ The Harvest Dinner should be on our calendars. It is Thursday, October 25th. A mailing sent last week describes opportunities for sponsorships. If you won't be in town for the dinner, a sponsorship would be a great way to play your part. This dinner is very important to the future of our local projects. |
♦ PRESIDENT TERRY distributed a Rotary Score Card listing many of the activities in which Rotarians can participate. This card is small enough to carry in a wallet, so through the coming year you will be able to keep track of your participation in Rotary. |
THANK YOU: |
I just received a very beautiful and big plant from Bennett's Greenhouse. Attached
was this message: "We miss you and our thoughts are with you." Signed:
Lafayette Rotary Club.
Please express my sincere thanks and let everyone know, particularly the GEEZERS that I plan to get back in the near future with the help of God and Dr. Harb and his group of professionals. Thanks again. JOE BONNER |
