    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ Satellite Meeting is Wednesday June 20 at 5:30 at Uncorked. The topic for discussion will be another way to support local fund raisers. Come join the brain storming!

♦ Every Rotarian Every Year is Rotary International's way of reminding you that the good works of Rotary cannot continue unless every member contributes something each year. Our club holds the regrettable distinction of having one of the lowest percentage of members who contribute. If you have not given something ($100 is suggested, but anything is acceptable), there is one more week in this Rotary year for you to do so. Pick up a form from JANE or go on line. The Rotary.org web site makes it easy to charge it to your credit card.

♦ Registration for the October 26 & 27 District Conference may be done on line. The cost is $109 until August 1st, when it will increase to $129. Since we are the host club and no one needs to pay for hotel rooms, this is a great opportunity for a large percentage of our club to greet and welcome fellow Rotarians from the other 44 clubs in the District. Register now. Save money.

♦ Are you a golfer? Please consider participating in the Monticello Rotary Club's 6th Annual Golf Outing on Thursday, June 28th at the Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello. Register by June 21st. Cost is $45.00. Contact Greg Vogel (574) 583- 3981. It is in our interest to help other clubs because we want them to help us by attending our Harvest Dinner.

♦ The Indiana Gaming Commission granted our club a Charity Gaming license. Watch for raffles in the weeks ahead!

♦ Attention all Euchre players! The next evening of Euchre will be June 30th at the Hychkas home. Arrive about 6:30 and bring something to munch on. Serious play begins about 7:30. If you don't know how to play the game, someone will happily teach you. Please let LETA KELLEY or SUSAN HYCHKA know if you can attend.

    JANE'S CORNER:

A prayer found by George Ramsey in his fathers effects. Some change of prounouns. Author Ray Kasten of Lexington Kentucky. Delivered by George to the Lafayette Rotary club on June 19th, 2012. Several members asked that it be reproduced in Ripples.

Heavenly Father: you know better than we know ourselves, that we are getting older and will someday be old.

Keep us from getting talkative and particularly from the fatal habit of thinking we must say something on every subject and on every occasion. Release us from craving to try to straighten out everybody's affairs.

Make us thoughtful, but not moody, helpful, but not bossy. With our vast store of wisdom, it seems a pity not to use it all. . . but, you know Lord, that we want a few friends at the end.

Keep our minds free from the recital of endless details . . . . . ...give us wings to get to the point.

Seal our lips to our many aches and pains . . .. They are increasing, and our love of rehearsing them is becoming sweeter as the years go by.

We ask for grace enough to listen to the tales of other pains. Help us to endure them with patience.

Teach us the glorious lesson that occasionally, it is possible, that we may be mistaken. Keep us reasonably sweet. We do not necessarily aspire to sainthood..( some of them are so hard to live with)..but a sour old person is one of the crowning works of the devil.

And finally Help us to extract all possible enjoyment out of life. There are so many funny things, and beautiful things around us. We don't want to miss any of them.

    Amen
