WELCOME NEW MEMBER:

In the absence of sponsor SCOTT RUMBLE, President Elect TERRY WEST introduced Edward "Ed" Geswein, owner of Geswein Farm - Land Realty LLC, 3624 Mulberry Drive, Lafayette, IN 47905. Phone 765-426-6666. E-mail: edgeswein@gmail.com

PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT ELECT TERRY WEST introduced Nick Soodek, President, Wabash Valley Trust for Preservation, who proclaimed that Lafayette residents are proud of the area's heritage and architectural heritage. The organization began with the preservation of the courthouse. He went on to explain that there are several historic districts in our twin cities. It has been shown in several places around the United States that property values are increased in local historic districts. The major requirement is to maintain the property. He talked about the success of the "I SPY" program at Mosey Down Main Street last weekend and the checkered success of saving endangered properties in the county. Structures must be at least fifty years old to be considered historic. Nick and the Trust are justifiably proud of the restoration of homes in the Ellsworth Romig Neighborhood. It inspires other property owners to refresh their homes.
