Dear Rotary friends,

Thank you for the beautiful orchid sent to me following my surgery in December. We enjoy its beauty every day and appreciate your good wishes which have certainly helped to speed my recovery.

JANE'S CORNER:

Highlights of the January Club Board Meeting:

Strategic Discussion Topics:
1. Club Governance Structure.

JIM KLUSMAN, representing the Governance Committee, presented a working draft of a new structure for the Club. Fewer Directors and a revised Committee Structure were discussed.

2. Membership Trends - Downward

The Club is involved in three initiatives: a relationship with Tippy Connect; financial incentives; and the Satellite Club. Make-up opportunities, public relations, the attitude of the new President of Purdue and checking out other organizations that are growing were discussed.

3. A gaming-based fund raising idea was presented to test the comfort level of the board. Although not unanimous, there was enough support to warrant more research.

A new contract was signed with University Plaza Hotel (it will become Four Points by Sheraton on January 19th) which maintains the current price of $10.
