50/50 RAFFLE:
50/50 Raffle: CHRIS BIANG asked CORKIE MITCHELL to draw the ticket, which belonged to LEW RUNNELS. Unfortunately, all aces eluded him, so he received a consolation prize.
BIRTHDAY TABLE:

January Birthday Table Chair, BILL BAUMGARDT, introduced the members celebrating another year and announced that, so far, $925.00 has been contributed to our Foundations by this small but generous group. To celebrate, we sang Happy Birthday.

PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT TIM introduced VICE PRESIDENT CHRIS JOHANNSEN, retired Purdue Professor of Agronomy, whose topic was "Personal Experiences in Foreign Travel". He shared photos and stories of some of his trips to China in 1983, '88 and '92; Kenya in 1985, '87, and '90; Russia in 1996 and 2001; Turkey in 1989 and 1999; and Saudi Arabia in 1990, '91 and '92. He had photos of how tourists lived as apposed to how locals lived; contrasting photos of the first time he was in a country and the last; and tales of encounters with locals and hosts. Most of the members have traveled and enjoyed hearing his experiences and remembering their own.
