PROGRAM:

The Music Committee (some know it as the Music Table!) led by JOHN BARRETT presented a wonderful program of Christmas music. Santas JOHN BARRETT and BOB VERPLANK led us in singing favorite holiday songs like White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Silver Bells and more, all accompanied by Santa BOB GRIFFITHS. HARLEY FREY pitched in at the piano, picking up in the middle of a song and impressing everyone! CHRISTA KECK read the poem "Oh Tannenbaum" in German and then we sang it in German. MAURI WILLIAMSON read "There Is No Rest", which conveyed memories of childhood Christmas in the 1930's. ARVID OLSON explained the origins of chestnuts like "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "Away in a Manger" as we sang them. CHRISTA then read the Story of Silent Night and then the poem in German. HARRIET COPPOC on the flute and RAY PEETERS on piano played "Silent Night" before the group sang it. CORKY MITCHELL ended the program with "We Wish You a Merry Christmas!" Our Music Table is loaded with talent and a sense of humor, bringing us two program each year and weekly opportunities for a smile. THANK YOU VERY MUCH and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

"There is a remarkable breakdown of taste and intelligence at Christmastime. Mature, responsible grown men wear neckties made of holly leaves and drink alcoholic beverages with raw egg yolks and cottage in them."
