led by LETA and JACK KELLEY

    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

♦ PRESIDENT TIM thanked all volunteers who rang the bell for Salvation Army last Saturday. It was a cold day to be standing outside. We hope that sufficient sympathy was garnered from shoppers to make the kettle count high. There is still time to get your check to Salvation Army. Make it payable to Salvation Army and give it to JANE or to FLOYD GARROTT.

♦ Badges are being added and subtracted from the badge box. You'll need to consult the list to find your badge next week.

♦ Buy a Christmas gift and help Rotary at the same time. What could be more perfect?!? ELSA JANLE is selling her beautiful jewelry before and after meetings until Christmas. Forty percent of the proceeds will be contributed to our club.

♦ LETA KELLEY announced that the December 27th program is for families. A barbershop quartet will entertain us and FAYE COLE will lead the group in a game that involves a White Elephant gift. Please be sure to bring one so you can be part of the fun.

♦ The next "Pub Club" meeting will be Wednesday, January 4th at Adelino's. Plan to join us!

♦ The Committees section of the web page has been updated. Please be sure to "reload" or "refresh" when you use it to see the newest lists. If you find something in a list you feel is incorrect, please report it to JANE. The committee descriptions are still in need of change.

♦ Rotary is matching all contributions up to $500 made to the Annual Fund until the end of this year. If you are close to receiving a Paul Harris Pin or a new pin, this is the time to double your money!

♦ ADG NANCY JO TRAFTON reminded us to register for the District Conference before the rate goes up after December 31st. She said we have 11 registered at the moment. Registration forms are available at the back desk and on line.

♦ SUZANN SHACKLETON asked us to think of possible candidates for Rotary Peace Fellowships. A master's degree or certificate in peace and conflict resolution at one of the six Rotary Peace Centers is a way to promote leaders in national and international cooperation, peace, and conflict resolution. Please contact SUZANN at slshackl@localline.com

♦ PAST PRESIDENT DICK RAHDERT, chair of the Nominating Committee, presented the slate for next year. New officers: JO WADE for Vice President and JANE SMITH for Treasurer. New Directors: BOB FEUER, JOEL RASMUS, BECKY ROBLEDO, and PHIL TUCKER. TOM MORAN moved with a second by MAURI WILLIAMSON that nominations be closed and the recommended slate be accepted by acclamation. The motion carried. Congratulations to the new Board Members!

    JANE'S CORNER:
    Club Board Report:

♦ Recent resignations: BOB MODLIN, OSCAR HOPKINS, GORDON KINGMA, DENNIS WEIDENAAR and CHARLENE SULLIVAN

♦ A draft of Governance Restructuring Outcomes was presented for consideration.

♦ The make-up practices will remain the same. Make-ups are very important to our club. All committee chairs should report attendance at committee meetings or activities to JANE.

♦ To encourage younger members to join Rotary, the board agreed to waive the $40 joining fee and one half of the first year's dues to the first ten members who are less than 41 years of age, with the requirement that they become involved in at least one activity.

♦ WEST reported on the most recent P.E.T.S. meeting saying all RI forms and reports will be made electronically in the future.

♦ The Board elected CHIP RUTLEDGE to fill the unexpired term of DAN BERGER, who resigned from the board due to family pressures.
