PROGRAM:

TERRY WEST introduced Dave Bangert, Opinions Page Editor and columnist for the Journal & Courier. Joke: Why did the chicken cross the road? To show the possum it could be done. Chuckles!

Dave went on to talk about his life and life at the newspaper. Always aware that he wanted to write, he went to the University of Colorado because it was close to mountains - where he could ski. His first job was at the Lawrence, KS, newspaper. From there he came to Lafayette's Journal & Courier in 1989 and has held several positions where he has interviewed members of the club.

When asked about the importance of local news, he urged everyone to subscribe to the local paper and support its advertisers. JC Online offers more comprehensive coverage to supplement articles in the printed version.
