PROGRAM:

JIM HANKS introduced former Rotarian and Executive Director for the past 22 years of Leadership Lafayette, Christie Smith. In the history JIM wrote of Leadership Lafayette, he credits BOB GRIFFITHS with being the "founding father". Christy noted that JIM was a board member and the organization has dubbed him "super-fan".

Leadership Lafayette, in its 30th year, continues its mission to develop leaders to serve local organizations. Over the years 1,130 graduates have taken their places in organizations and governmental offices all over the area. Funding for the Academy comes from fees and contributions. It is not a United Way agency. A few years ago Vision 20/20 identified leadership development as an important goal. An endowment was established to maintain high quality classes in all economic climates.

Leadership Lafayette graduates Jeff Love with Lafayette Savings Bank, Michelle Kreinbrook with Unity Health Care, and Veronique LeBlanc with Riggs Community Health Center spoke about the many ways the classes helped them and their organizations. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Noah, when he heard the weather forecast, said
"Build an ark!"
That's LEADERSHIP!

When he got on the ark, he said
"Don't let the elephants see what the rabbits are doing!"
That's MANAGEMENT!
