    ♦ Backpack Distributors are needed at 1:45 on Friday.

    ♦ Mark your calendars! The first meeting of the Satellite Club (Pub Club) will be at Adelino's from 5:30 ? 7:00 on Wednesday, October 5th. All members are invited to come and to bring a prospective member.

    ♦ Rotary 6560 is going to Joplin MO the weekend of October 22nd to participate in "the build". Anyone wishing to join this group should contact MIKE MILLER at drugtestingi@att.net.

    ♦ LETA KELLEY announced the next Euchre Party will be hosted by Steve and SUSAN HYCHKA on October 28th.

    ♦ BOB FEUER offered to start a Rotary Fellowship for those who walk dogs. He will arrange the time and place.

    ♦ The League of Women Voters of Greater Lafayette is holding a "Meet & Greet the WL Candidates" on Thursday, October 6th, 6:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m., Room 106 Morton Community Center. The LWV is holding a "Meet and Greet to Lafayette Candidates" on Wednesday, October 5th at Ivy Tech, Ivy Hall rooms 1106,1112,1114, at 6:00 p.m. ? 8:00 p.m. The public is invited to meet the candidates. Light refreshments provided.

    ♦ CAROL GALBRAITH reported the results of the survey:

     S Favorite service project - 41% said Backpack, 21% Salvation Army, 12% Polio Eradication

     U Why are we the Ultimate club in our area - 31% said great service projects, 17% great people

     R Responsibility - What can you do to make Rotary better - 29% said bring in new members, 21% participate more, 14% attend more

     F Fun and Fellowship - What will make our club more fun - 21% said bring in younger members, 17% more social activities

    ♦ Our resident auctioneer, TIM LUZADER, had two tickets to the Notre Dame Game. SUSAN HYCHKA made the winning bid. The proceeds go toward our club's goal to eradicate polio.

    Please extend my heartfelt thanks to the Lafayette Rotary Club for the beautiful flowers, which greeted me upon my recent return from (hip replacement) surgery. While carrying on this longstanding Rotary tradition may at times seem stale and outmoded, I can now personally attest to the happiness it brings to it's fortunate recipients.
