50/50 RAFFLE:

TERRY WEST announced a new game. As before 50% off the top each week goes to the Club for local projects like Backpack. The other 50% goes into the ``pot". The Ace of Spades will win the pot. The other Aces will win 50% of the pot and the game will continue. TERRY asked Harriet Beeler to pull a ticket from the basket. BILL FULLER was the owner of the ticket. Unfortunately, the Ace of Spades eluded him and he selected one of the consolation prizes.

EULOGY:

BETTY SUDDARTH gave a beautiful eulogy for NELSON "PARKIE" PARKHURST. He was a dear man who had a long and productive life.

CONGRATULATIONS:

SUSAN HYCHKA presented VICKI BURCH with her first Paul Harris Fellow.

PROGRAM:

TERRY WEST introduced speakers Charles Watkinson, Director of Purdue University Press and Sue Topping, Discussion of Bob Topping's new book "Just Call Me Orville, the Story of Orville Redenbacher". Watkinson reviewed publications and upcoming releases and then talked about Redenbacher, who was born on a southern Indiana farm. He came to Purdue in 1924 to study agronomy, and joined the fraternity, Alpha Gamma Rho. Fraternity life is where he picked up his life long signature look ? wearing a bow tie. Watkinson game more history of this interesting man, ending with the sale of his popcorn company for $4 million to Hunt Wesson in 1976. He became the live time spokesman for the company.

Susan Topping briefly shared some of the Topping family experiences with Mr. Redenbacher while Bob Topping was writing a book about the popcorn king.

STUDENT GUESTS:

LIZ SOLBERG introduced Joanna Patterson and Jeffrey Reed from Jefferson High School. Each received a certificate and a travel mug containing the Four- Way-Test to commemorate meeting with us today.
