    ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    ♦ PRESIDENT TIM says that the Rotary sponsored Leadership Institute, attended by TERRY WEST, BOB FEUER, and DICK RAHDERT was interesting and valuable. TIM will have more to report later.

    ♦ LEW RUNNELS announced that backpack distribution will begin on Friday, September 9th. Six volunteers are needed. Sign up on the bulletin board.

    ♦ BECKY ROBLEDO announced a change in processing the Criminal Check forms to volunteer in a school. The process must be done on line now. Forms with blanks for the necessary information are available from BECKY or JANE. Return the forms BECKY will do the on-line application for you.

    ♦ VIRGIL ST. JOHN is in Arizona and unable to use his Purdue football tickets. Two tickets and an "A" parking pass were auctioned (Yes, TIM can act like an auctioneer! Who Knew?!?!) off to the highest bidder. SONYA MARGERUM'S winning bid will benefit Polio Eradication. Thanks to VIRG and SONYA!

    ♦ SAVE THE DATE!! Thursday, October 25, 2012 is the evening before the District Conference in Lafayette opens and when our club will host a Harvest Dinner at The Ross-Ade Pavillion Shively Club. Tickets are $50. Volunteers are needed. Please contact KIM if you can help with this exciting fun(d) raiser.

    ♦ An information night for Rotary Youth Exchange will be held at the Carmel High School Community Room on Thursday, September 15th from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. This session is for interested students and their parents to learn more about RYE, and whether or not it is the program for them. It is not a commitment, just a chance to learn more about the Program.
    RYE is for students ages 16-17, typically sophomore's applying for their junior year abroad. It is a full academic year in another county. The student will live in a host home and attend a local high school. It is the best program of its kind, and one of the least expensive programs in existence.
