PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT TIM introduced Morgan Burke, noting that Burke is in his 19th year as Athletic Director at Purdue. Burke said the $100 Million renovation of Mackey Arena is nearly complete. He announced that anyone interested in helping with the "tutoring program" are welcome. Before introducing Dave Shondell, he encouraged everyone to wear black and gold, decorate storefronts, and fly the Purdue flag on Fridays.

Coach Shondell, in his 9th year as head volleyball coach at Purdue, thanked the group for a warm welcome and the best 8.5 years of his life here in this community. Building on last year's electric season, the new freshman class has great athletic ability. In addition to athletics, they are great students and impressive people. The team is ranked 13th overall and 5th in the Big 10. He encouraged everyone to come and enjoy the games.

Burke asked everyone to come to the Boiler Bridge Walk at 5:15 on Fridays before home games. This football team's grade average is 2.85, they give back to the community by doing the Cancer Walk and helping build habitat homes. The recruiting focus has been on talent and they expect success on the field. He introduced Danny Hope, who is in his 3rd season as head football coach at Purdue.

Hope's mission statement for the team is: 1. Have fun, 2. Make A's and B's, and 3. Become champions. He has healthy players and a more experienced team. Strong team leadership is emphasizing: 1. Execute assignments, 2. Focus, 3. Trust, 4. Be accountable. They want to start fast and finish strong, all the while taking care of the football. Special teams cam be Purdue's edge.
