50/50 RAFFLE:
JOHN BARRETT asked Barrie Simpson to draw the winning ticket for today's 50/50 Raffle. The ticket belonged to BETTY SUDDARTH. Unfortunately the Ace of Diamonds eluded her. She received an umbrella from Lafayette Savings Bank as consolation prize.
BIRTHDAY TABLE:

August Birthday Table Chair, SCOTT RUMBLE, introduced Rotarians celebrating another year this month and announced that so far $1,437 has been contributed to our foundations. We sang Happy Birthday to this generous group.

CONGRATULATIONS:

DG NANCY MADRU presented SUSAN HYCHKA a new Paul Harris pin. This one sports five sapphires! Thank you, SUSAN.

PROGRAM:

TERRY WEST introduced Ambassadorial Scholar, Emily Dawes, who graduated from Purdue with a degree in history, and several languages under her belt. She studied abroad several times while at Purdue. After graduation she worked at the Carter Center in Atlanta, spent some time in Morocco refining her Arabic language skills, and helped with an archeological dig in Israel. Her year at the American University of Beirut as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar gave her the opportunity to study Arabic and history. She was very active in the Rotaract Club, making friends while participating in the service projects. Emily thanked the club and District for the opportunity to study and represent Rotary in Lebanon.
