PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT ELECT TIM LUZADER introduced fellow Rotarian BOB HANNEMANN, a pediatrician in Lafayette since 1962. He opened the program with a short video, which explained that in 1984 President Reagan created the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Using a 24 hour toll free hot line, two thousand children are reported missing every day. One in six of those are located using the Amber Alert system. The exploitation of children is big business. The center uses the internet to fight back and works with banks to cut off the funding.

BOB was asked to be on the Center's Board of Directors. He sees a natural fit between the work of Rotary and the Center. Rotary International's reach can help children everywhere. BOB went on to outline the goals, actions and future plans of our club's committee. He intends to expand the outreach and to propose the project to other Rotary Clubs.

GUESTS:

Roger and Kathy Bauer; Jan Anderson, wife of FRED ANDERSON; Eleanor Hannemann and Bob Hannemann, wife and son of BOB HANNEMANN; Roger Francis, Chris Cannon, Mark Stodgell and Dennis Dunn, guests of BOB HANNEMANN.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

BOB HANNEMANN ended his presentation with this poem by Helen Kromer. President Reagan used it the day he created the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

"One man awake can awaken another
The second can awaken his next door brother
The three can rouse the town
Turning the whole place upside down
And the many awake can make such a fuss
They finally awaken the rest of us."
