    ♦ Congratulations to DICK RAHDERT, who has been asked by District Governor Elect NANCY MADRU to be Assistant District Governor next year. \smallskip

    ♦ LETA KELLEY, co-chair of the Family of Rotary committee, invited us to "take a trip to the opera." At noon on Saturday, April 9th at Lafayette Theater 10 there will be a behind the scenes tour followed by Rossini's comic opera "Le Comte Ory". The cost will be $18.50 for seniors ands a few dollars more fo under ages. The opera entertains for over three hours. By that time everyone will be hungry. Dinner is at Nine Irish Brothers. Since the private room there only holds 32, let LETA know now that you want to participate.

    ♦ PRESIDENT DICK announced that a bridge made of canned food will be built at the District Conference. Kroger's is supplying the cans, which will be donated to Gleaners following the conference. Each club in the District is asked to raise $200 in the next two weeks to pay for the cans of food. Our club has an offer of $100 to match contributions. DICK asked members to contribute $10 to be matched.

    ♦ Tuesday March 29th will be a Club Assembly. If you have questions or issues you would like to have discussed, please give them to DICK, JANE or a board member.

    ♦ Highlights from this month's The Rotarian Magazine:

    – March is Literacy Month in Rotary

    – For the past several years there have been 1.2 million members in Rotary. In that same time period there has been a turn-over of 1.2 million members.

    – The new General Secretary of Rotary International is John Hewko, who has experience in international law and speaks six languages.

    – The President Elect of Rotary International, KALYAN BANERJEE, will be in Indianapolis to speak to PETS/COTS this Friday evening.

    ♦ KIM MOTULIAK announced that Food Finders has a truck-load of cereal. Rotary has the opportunity to help repackage the cereal from 9 - 11 on Saturday mornings, March 12 and 26th. Sign up on the bulletin board or contact KIM at Food Finders.
