PROGRAM:

PRESIDENT DICK introduced DISTRICT GOVERNOR SALIM NAJJAR, who thanked us for the invitation to present his program about the Pediatric Heart Surgery Mission to Uganda, funded by The Rotary Foundation, District 6560 and individual clubs in the district, including ours. He and 12 professionals from Riley Children's Hospital spent a week in Uganda teaching doctors and nurses in their hospital how to perform heart surgery on children. SALIM was allowed in the operating room to film the surgeries on 11 patients. He shared his photos and the video of an open chest with us. At the end of the week, the team observed as the local doctors and nurses successfully repaired a child's heart. The children whose lives were saved and the team that was trained to save more lives is the result of our contributions to The Rotary Foundation. There were several good questions at the end of SALIM'S presentation.
